Off in the distance are the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia. They have a soft beauty about them which, growing up in WA, took me quite awhile to appreciate. When I first moved to Charlottesville in 1983, it seemed funny they were called mountains. They didn't look much different to me than, say, the foothills around Sultan, WA. Now they do!
